To support our team at the a&o Hostel Amsterdam Zuidoost we are looking for YOU! A hardworking and independent Catering Manager (m/f/x) for our restaurant service.

Our hostel is exclusively made available to accommodate refugees in a COA refugee centre until February 2028 and is therefore an ideal place for the practical experience of students with a social-pedagogical orientation.

YOUR JOB

• Managing catering staff and kitchen staff
• doing stand up meetings before and after shifts with catering staff and kitchen
• replenishing and maintaining stock
• receiving stock and keep order in storage rooms
• making orders together with the chefs
• making and keeping schedules
• updating administration from deliveries and staff hours
• liaising with guests and suppliers
• giving an operational hand where needed
• Flexible to work early shifts and late shifts (eg 7-15hrs, 14-22hrs), at least 2 full weekends per month
• Delegating tasks to line cooks in shift briefing and oversee that they complete them correctly and in a timely fashion
  Previous cooking experience is a plus
  

YOUR PROFILE

• You enjoy dealing with guests - and you show it, no matter what time of day or night it is
• You are able to work independently, are highly committed and a team player
• Since shifts might start early or end late, living in Amsterdam or surrounding residential areas is ideal
• You have experience with preparing a breakfast, lunch or dinner buffets incl. salad bars, as well as using convector ovens
• Your English skills are on B2 level – Dutch skills are highly preferred and of course we are happy for every additional language you are able to speak
